Satisfy ISO/IEC 17025 External QA Requirements Even Outside

ISO/IEC 17025 (clause 7.7.2) allows labs to demonstrate the validity of results through either proficiency testing or interlaboratory comparisons. When your analyte or matrix falls outside S&A's current A2LA accredited PT scope (Certificate No. 7487.01), our Custom ILC Studies provide a fully compliant path to meet that requirement built with the same rigor as our accredited programs.

How It works

Getting a compliant ILC study set up takes just four steps:

  •  Tell us the analyte, matrix, and method you need evaluated.
  •  We prepare a sample and assign a reference value.
  •  You test and submit results.
  • You receive a performance report comparing your result to the reference value and acceptable range — suitable for your 17025 quality records.

Best Suited For: 17025-accredited labs that need a documented, standards-compliant competency check for an analyte where no accredited PT program currently exists.

**This ILC study satisfies ISO/IEC 17025 clause 7.7.2 as an interlaboratory comparison.

It is not part of S&A's A2LA accredited PT scope and should not be represented as accredited proficiency testing. **

Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at customerservice@sacilabs.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Not exactly. PT programs are run under a formal accreditation scope (ISO/IEC 17043) with statistical evaluation across multiple labs. An ILC is a broader term — ISO/IEC 17025 (clause 7.7.2) recognizes it as an equally valid way to demonstrate competency when no accredited PT program covers your specific analyte or matrix.

Yes — 17025 explicitly allows either. Your ILC report documents your result against a reference value, giving your assessor the same type of objective evidence a PT report would.

No. The ILC is offered as a separate, clearly labeled service outside our A2LA PT scope.
